I always carry my camera with me wherever I go. This morning I went for a walk around Eton to see if there were any photo opportunities especially as the Thames had broke it banks and a lot of the playing fields were under water. The shots I got may be interesting historically but there was nothing that I was really happy with so I got back to the car and driving home decided to stop off at the Jubillee river, a flood relief system put in place a few years ago for just this sort of situation, to see if there was anything of interest and wow was there. A group of junior Freelance Kayakers were really taking advantage of the raised water levels and the prctice session they were engaged was really exciting and action packed.
But it was while I was chatting to a few other spectators that had stopped to watch the excitement that I heard time and time again "Oh I wish I'd thought to bring my camera out with me this morning". Now I'm not saying that everyone must carry their camera everywhere they go, but it is so easy to slip a camera in your pocket or handbag these days that it is within everyones grasp to catch that moment and come away with something you are happy with. I'll end with one of my favourite quotes: “Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have somone click the shutter.” ― Ansel Adams
